Zika virus, despite making not many headlines for the past year, is still considered one of the major illnesses that can be harmful to life. Although there have been many types of research, a completely effective solution is not available so far. However, the latest update from the medical research field can change that. However, one group of researchers have managed to capture an ultra-high resolution image of the Zika virus. This image is offering a more in-depth look at the structure of the virus, which would help in the creation of more effective solutions to the problems caused by the same.

Atomic structure of the virus was captured using a technology named electron microscopy. The final ultra-high resolution image of the structure is the result of many of these attempts. All these attempts were being used to render a 3-Dimension image of the Zika virus. One of the serious characteristics of Zika virus — the stability factor — has, in fact, helped the research team to create an even accurate structural model of infection. It also means that the vulnerable parts of its atomic structure have been exposed. This information can be used to create vaccines that address the issues posed by the Zika virus.

It needs to be noted that Zika virus still is one of the major problems in countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. The impact of the virus is so strong that the baby can have neurological disorders if the pregnant mother was infected with Zika virus. The official website of Center for Disease Control says the following about the virus: Zika infection during pregnancy can cause a birth defect of the brain called microcephaly and other severe brain defects. It is also linked to other problems, such as miscarriage, stillbirth, and other birth defects. There have also been increased reports of Guillain-Barré syndrome, an uncommon sickness of the nervous system, in areas affected by Zika.
